What is the Chamber of Commerce?
The role of the Wilson Chamber of Commerce is to represent and advocate business interests, promote economic growth, provide leadership in community affairs, enhance the quality of life for the people of Wilson County, and provide services and programs for its members.
There are two primary functions of the Chamber of Commerce:
(1) It acts as spokesperson for the business and professional community and translates into action the group thinking of its members, and
(2) It renders specific services of a type that can be most effectively rendered by a community organization both to its members and to the community as a whole.
The Chamber of Commerce is an advocate for its members, not a charity. The membership investment in the Wilson Chamber may be tax deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense.
