Private enterprise is the backbone of the American economy, and local chambers are critical to keeping it that way. As our nation prepares to celebrate 250 years of independence, we’re launching our “March to 250”: a goal to raise $250,000 by March, 2026. In addition to supporting our current operations, the March to 250 will allow the Wilson Chamber of Commerce to make strategic investments that benefit every local business.
What will the March to 250 accomplish?
This fundraising initiative is intended to secure the financial future of the Chamber. Since 1897, the Wilson Chamber of Commerce has been Wilson’s premier business network. In 2024, for the second consecutive time, the Chamber earned Accreditation from the US Chamber Foundation: one of only four in the state to hold such a distinction. In 2021, the Chamber was named Outstanding Small Chamber of the Year by the Carolinas Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives. To build on these achievements, the Chamber needs to build a strategic reserve that empowers it to serve Wilson with excellence, while designing relevant programming our business community values.
Why is the March to 250 necessary now?
Membership growth in the Chamber has reflected Wilson’s reputation as a destination for business. However, maintaining this growth as an affordable, discretionary investment for any business means that the Chamber is not currently able to offer the breadth of services that a prospering business community requires. To keep pace with Wilson’s economic development, the Chamber needs to make investments in human and capital resources that have been deferred for too long.
As we consider the role that private enterprise has played in American success for nearly 250 years, we think it’s appropriate to align the future of our Chamber with the future of our country.

Checks made payable to the WILSON COMMERCE FOUNDATION are contributions to our 501c3 organization, and are typically tax-deductible as a personal gift to a charitable organization.

Gifts of any amount are appreciated, and every contribution will help us achieve our goal. We still depend on membership investments, event/program sponsorships, registration fees, and other revenue to fulfill the mission of the Chamber, and the March to 250 cannot replace that essential funding. We are hopeful that 100% of our members will contribute to this worthwhile endeavor, and that everyone who benefits from a strong business community will consider a donation.
How will donors to March to 250 be recognized?
Unless otherwise directed by the donor, the Chamber will recognize donors at various giving levels.
